Ashley and Trevor

This, like every other wedding I am honored to be at, was a day I was looking forward to for quite some time. Not only is this couple a complete work of art for each other, but I was able to work at a great location like Silver Garden in Southfield, and was also able to work with one of my favorite wedding coordinators, Rachel from A Beautiful Day Events.
The day was totally magical- the ceremony was outside by the gazebo area at Silver Garden, and because it was beautifully overcast, I was hoping for a bit of wind to work its magic for some texture in some photos. Wind also has the opportunity of creating different natural human responses- such as pulling hair away from the face- which makes for great photographic moments. Luckily once the ceremony began, I got my way.
On top of the slight wind here and there, also got my way with Ashley's personality. This girl is like a jar of fireflies- she is awe-spiring and lights up any room she walks into. Her laughter is totally contagious and any photos of her are just perfect. Her hubby Trevor adds to her and makes their relationship complete. I always think of Jerry McGuire and the "You complete me line" when I think of these two. A total match.
After the ceremony, instead of starting the family photos right away, I took Ashley and Trevor and their bridal party on the grounds for thier photos. I told them because the ceremony and reception were pretty much back to back, the importance should be placed on the photos of them two since it was there wedding- because we can get the immediate family photos anytime until I leave for the evening.
After a good 30 minutes of photos, we took some quick family photos and headed in for the reception.
The colors Ashley and Trevor chose were glorious and complemented the room so sweet! Rachel, the coordinator always does a great job in listening to her couples on how they want their room/tables set up and she didn't disappoint- the room was stunning!
Congrats you two crazies- I love you mucho! xoxoxoxoxoxoox

Emilia and Brian

I really don't think you can ever go wrong at St. Johns in Plymouth. Luckily, because I am there about 25 times a year, I am very familiar with the ins and outs of this place. The staff are totally on top of their game and are a key element in providing one of the best experiences of your life. I say that because of how often I am there so I get to see it first hand :) The only thing about St. Johns is that it is usually very busy with people everywhere, making it a challenge to utilize spaces when you need them for photographs- there is alot of sharing involved- and even certain hallways can be rented out by couples, so sometimes those are off limits.
I started my day in the suite where Emilia and her girls were getting ready. Emilia has this totally elegant aura about her- like an old world Princess. After some photos in the suite, we headed down to the waterfall garden area for photos of the just the girls. After the girls were finished and got them hidden, Brian and his guys met me down in the same area for their photos. Once those were finished, it was time for the ceremony to begin.
Most ceremonies at St. Johns run approximately one hour for a full mass, and 45 minutes for non mass. After the ceremony, the chapel coordinators will lead the bridal party around to the sacristy to sign the marriage license- this will take about 10 minutes. From there, family photos begin and generally take about a half hour.
After Emilia and Brians family photos were completed, we headed outside with the bridal party for photos of just the bridal party and of course a ton of Brian and Emilia. I always recommend at least a half hour for those kind of photos at St. Johns, since everything is right on the grounds.
The reception began promptly after photo taking and was in the Atrium. If you have never been in the Atrium, you are missing out- it is one of the most unique and beautiful reception locations I have ever seen. And the food is always fantastic too- I know first hand since I get to eat at every wedding!
Congratulations Emilia and Brian! You truly have some magical memories! xoxoxoxoxox

Emily and Daniel

Emily and Daniels day couldn't have been more perfect. The weather was this overcast summer day with a nice breeze- totally perfect for photography. On top of that, the couple and their families were so accommodating and nice to everyone that the day had no stress whatsoever and everyone just went with the flow.
I started off my day at the church and got some candids of Emily's dress hanging, her shoes and jewelry. Before she got dressed, I pinned the flowers on the guys and took them outside the church for their group photos. Once those were done, I finished photographing Emily getting into her dress and I took the girls outside- while the guys were hidden- for their group photos. And there, just when I was hoping for a kick of wind to fly her train around for the photos, I got my wish and the wind was blowing- YAY!
After the ceremony and the group family photos, we headed over to Firefighters Park- which was only about 5 miles from San Marino Club, where the reception was. At the park I spent about 40 minutes getting great photos of the bridal party as well as just those of Emily and Dan. From there, we headed to the reception for some good eats and dancing.
As always, the reception was a ton of fun and filled with great moments for photography- the grand entrance, cake cutting, traditional dances and so on. I feel so lucky to have been a part of this day because I felt like family!
Congrats you guys! You know I have much love for ya! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
Movie Review-Up in the Air
My husband watches a show called "Diggnation" that will review new movies. Of course he always picks the ones I am iffy about-I guess I would like to see other movies first. Sometimes I just trust his instinct, like on this one- and I was happy I did. What I thought was somewhat predictable actually wasn't. This movie has more of a documentary feel to it in some spots and there is a lead character you will figure out really quickly that she will be getting some big lead roles soon-she plays a great young role opposite Clooney. There is alot going on in this movie so pay attention well. Not a movie I would jump out and see, but not necessarily one I would wait to rent. Go see it at the dollar show, or a matinee like we did. ***1/2 out of 5 stars.
Movie Review-The Blind Side
I keep forgetting to post new movie reviews on here. I have gotten such a positive feedback from people I decided to keep them on this blog instead of the other.
The fact is, me and the hubby go to the movies more than cows crap in the pasture. I like to keep my reviews short and sweet without spoilers- so keep that in mind.
I had been wanting to see this movie since the trailer hit the big screen. Derak on the other hand, well he likes Sci-Fi imaginary crap (I'm not hatin' on you sci-fi lovas!) that doesn't tell any kind of story. He reluctantly gave in and went with me, and I know he liked it alot. I thought there were some holes in the story-like they rushed some of the relationships too much- but overall it was everything I thought it would be. This movie totally hit home too, about adoption- no matter the age. **** out of 5 stars.
