Sarah and Ryan

Woot, Woot!
Not only was this day HOT, but so was my hot little couple Ryan and Sarah!!!!
I started the day off at Sarah parents house- which just so happened to be just 10 minutes from my own house! I love downriver weddings- it's not often that I photograph them (99% of my weddings are in Oakland or Macomb counties) but it is nice to be close to home every once in a while!
Sarah and Ryan wanted to see each other for photos before the ceremony, so I set them up at their reception hall for them to see each other for the first time. Alot of people wonder how I go about this, and basically it is really a cool and surreal moment I do my best to try and reserve for the couple. I always try to let anyone around them know that they are going to see each other for the first time, so kind of back off a bit so they have some time to themselves.....and I do the same- I just put on my zoom lens and tell the couple when they are allowed to turn around and look at each other and wallah- I start snapping away from a distance. I give the couple a couple of minutes to just chat, then give them direction on we are going to do next.
After the first look, everyone hopped in the limo and we went over to downtown Wyandotte and Bishop Park for the photos. I love taking photos in this area- you get thew urban look with some park photos thrown into the mix for a fun and eclectic look! The only problem with today was that it was ultra sunny- which makes for squinting, forehead shine, and not to mention- a TON of shadows! Don't get me wrong-what more could a bride ask for on her wedding day right? I agree- except as a photographer- overcast is my dream day!
After the park we headed over to the church for the ceremony, then the group family photos....that was an event in itself! here was a former photographer in the family and so there was alot of input going on!
After all that jazz was complete, we headed on over to Arnoldo's in Riverview for the reception. Arnoldo's is my favorite reception location downriver- they have a fantastic environment to match their awesome food!
A wonderful time was had by all- and what completes a night like some fabulous cake by Cakes by Stephanie out of Monroe! Yay!

Congrats Ryan and Sarah! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoox

Whoa Nelly!

I just want to let everyone out there know that my availability for engagement photos, family photos, maternity photos, senior photos and all other sessions is extremely limited- like limited to only about 5 slots left in the month of October. Just in the last week I have received over 40 inquiries for sessions of all different kinds, and although I hate to turn down business and am lucky to have so much, there is only one of me! I am booking fast for November too...........

Sarah and Marshall

This day, my friends was one heck of a day. Not only did we have some great photo weather- overcast at times- but I had one organized yet totally fun bride!
What I love about Sarah and Marshall is not only the fact they are totally hang out worthy (we are in the midst of planning our wine weekend to the west side of the state!) but that they are incredibly kind and generous. Sarah trusted me with everything and even if something could have seemed weird- she knew I have done this over 500 times and didn't even think about questioning my judgment!
This day was also surrounded by some fabulous people- Ana from Twofoot Creative was the Wedding Planner, Brendan from Platinum Mix Productions was the DJ and John from Trifoot was the videographer. I seriously felt like I was at my own party with all of these talented and ultra cool people to work with. This was seriously one awesome gala.
Sarah and Marshall planned it all out so all of the photos would be taken prior to the ceremony. This was perfect because then there was no gap between the ceremony and reception- large gaps (more than 2 hours) between the ceremony and reception are becoming a thing of the past- much like the garter/boc combo and the dollar dance.
Sarah and Marshall had a ton of cool details to photograph- the Atrium at St Johns was totally stunning the way they chose to decorate it- I know Sarah, Marshall and Ana were totally proud of the end result!
Dinner, of course was awesome as usual, and they made sure to seat us at a totally fun table filled with great conversational people- including one of my past bride and grooms! I love how Sarah and Marshall really had the best interest of the vendors at heart- they really took care of us and made us feel special and not just like workers- which makes the end result of the product even better because we were more comfortable with our work!
This was one of my favorite days- I was so lucky to have met Sarah and Marshall, and on top of that to work with such a fantastic crew!

I love you Sarah and Marshall! Congrats! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
