RIP Sister

I can't believe it has been four whole years today that you left me. You were my bestest friend, my mentor and you were always there to back me up whenever I needed you. Not a day that goes by that I do not think about you or miss you tremendously. Without you I would have never made it this far in my business, as it was your courage and strength that kept me going even in your time of sickness. I am proud to have you as my Sister, and I enjoy telling all of my couples about you. Although the sadness will never go away, every day gets a little easier. I will love you as long as I live. Until I see you again someday.........

Alyssa and Eric

Awww! What an exciting and beautiful day for this wonderful couple!
We started out the day in downtown Rochester where Eric and Alyssa would be seeing each other for the first time. The guys arrived first, and as I got Eric in his place for the first look moment, Alyssa arrived. I chose a cool concrete wall of a building for this moment- and it turned out just fab! After some photos around the downtown streets, we headed over to the Municipal Park (on University) for a more "park-like" setting- what a good combo of photos these two will have!
The ceremony and reception was held at the Candlelite Banquet Center in Shelby township. Don't let this place fool you because it is in a strip mall- the food is freaking FANTASTIC and the employees are just as helpful. The couple did a great job decorating the hall to personalize it to their liking, as I heard many a guest raving about the look and feel of the room- not to mention again- the food! Eric was a great sport letting Alyssa smash their first piece of cake together in his face, giving him a sweet glow of frosting face the entire night!

Congrats you guys- I will forever cherish the wonderful gift you gave me- in fact it is sitting on my desk next to me right now!

Movie Review: House

This must be one of those artsy flicks because it was only playing at limited locations- we happened to go see it at the Emagine Canton. And artsy it was- I walked out of the theatre confused. Good movie, with a "Saw" premise. Kind of written like a Rob Zombie horror flick. See it as a matinee. 3 out of 5 stars.

Acadia and Brian

Oh, what a wonderful day! I definitely felt like family being at this wedding! I had already knew so many of the people in attendance because I was many a couples photographer as well! Feeling like a member of the family is ULTRA important to me- which is why I emphasize to all couples that I meet that I will not just be your photographer- I will pin flowers, bustle dresses, help clean stains, get the head table drinks- etc......I want to feel loved too!!!!!!!!!
The ceremony took place at the home where the bride grew up- with sprawling wheat fields and lots of land. Talk about attention to detail- this couple went above and beyond in that department- they definitely defined their theme! This September 7Th day was stunning with a cool breeze that made beautiful hair flowing in the photos!
After the ceremony, guests wandered over to the chuck wagon for old school appetizers while we were taking more photos.
The reception, held at the Washtenaw Country Club was a beautiful place with lots of windows (like most country clubs) and a gorgeous outdoor patio. I love sitting with the guests for dinner- I meet so many new people- and this day was no different-new friends! The cake- an amazing creation- was created by another one of my past brides- Amanda from Queen of Hearts Bakery. Her cakes are always amazing looking and tasting, and I would HIGHLY recommend her to EVERYONE!

Thanks you guys- you know I have mad love for ya now and always!!!!!!!!! xoxoxoxoxo

Julie and Mike

I really was looking forward to this wedding! Not only are Julie and Mike a great couple to photograph, but they picked some fan-tabulous locations for their ceremony and reception!
The day started off at Fort Street Presbyterian Church downtown Detroit- which just so happens to be MY church! The church is absolutely gorgeous- and although because of it's dark mahogany wood makes it somewhat difficult to shoot there- photos are always striking here!
After the ceremony, we headed outside the church and took some photos on the church steps. This was the first weekend of September, so the weather was still very pleasant with a nice breeze at times. Next, we headed to the train station then Hart Plaza for more outdoor photos- a beautiful backdrop!
The reception took place at the Roostertail, which has fabulous food. I LOVE LOVE LOVE when couple go the "food station" route where guests can pick different stations of food and have it specially prepared just for them. A neat thing about the downstairs ballroom at the Roostertail? The dance floor moves during the first dance for the couple- a very cool effect for guests to see!

Congrats you guys- you make one heck of an awesome couple! xoxoxoxoxoxo

Kayle and Jason

What a cool country wedding! The two polite and quiet couple were so great to work with! Kayle was always on top of things and always had great questions for me throughout the planning process.
The day started out at Jason's grandparents home where Kayle got ready- then next door to Jason's parents home where Jason got ready. I got a good workout that day- as the bride wanted me to go between the two homes about 6 times before we headed off the the ceremony and reception sit, the Lazy J Ranch.
The "feel" for the day was fantastic- hay bales as seats for the ceremony, wheat as bouts for the guys, cowboy hats and boots!
Ont his day I was lucky to be able to work with DJ Kurt Lewis, who provided the music for both the ceremony and reception. Kayle and Jason were also an amazing photogenic couple- these two will have some gorgeous kids!

Thanks for letting me be a part of the day!!- xoxoxoxoxoxo

Photo Delivery Time Update

I just want to let everyone know that we are working on about 8 weeks for delivery of wedding photos. Our lab was closed for quarterly maintanance for two weeks in late September, therefore pushing us back a couple of weeks.........trust us, it will be well worth the wait! :) xoxoxoxoxoxo

Movie Review: Saw V

As before- I will keep this short and sweet.
I thoroughly enjoy horror movies- the more gore the better. If you liked the other 4
"Saw" movies, you won't be disappointed with this one. No better nor worse than the others- just following the same pattern as before. 4 out of 5 stars.

Katie and Jimmy

What a lovely day at my most favorite wedding facility Addison Oaks! What could make this day even better? A hilarious and gorgeous couple! Yep, that's right, Katie and Jimmy not only will have seriously gorgeous children, but they both are some of the most wonderful people a photographer could ever ask to work with!
Every time I venture out to Addison, I always search for new and cool places on the grounds for photos. Recently, I have discovered a beautiful bench along the lake shore by the old Milk house- how sweeeeettttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The couple went all out for beauty and held their ceremony outside in the courtyard, complete with programs and chair pomanders for decoration. After the ceremony while guests enjoyed their cocktail hour, the photos began, and as you can see, we had a luscious sky and cool lighting!
Ah............I was blessed with the bountiful Addison Oaks buffet yet again! I LOVE waiting in line among the guests- just watching the looks on their faces and the "oooohhhh's and awwwwww's" the come out of their mouths as they view their choices makes me smile endlessly and feel so happy on how approving the guests are!

Thank you Katie and Jimmy- you know I have much love for you!!!!!!
